How Quickly Does Albendazole Work?

Well, we are not having a good time recently.

 

After, having lice last month (which seems to have finally gone) I noticed tonight that Lily has scaly leg mite on her right leg.

 

I've sprayed her legs with Johnsons Anti-mit spray (and her three room mates just in case) and have done a search and read about surgical spirit, but my silly question is - where do you buy surgical spirit these days?. I've never bought it before so not sure where to get it.

 

As soon as I've got some I'll do the dunking and the vaseline.

I got mine from a horsey supplier, and they often sell vaseline or similar too.

 

Good luck, I've treated my little Blossom, though I wasn't sure how often to do it & settled on twice a week...should have been done today but too blooming wet ....... & after 4 doses her legs are looking much better she still doesn't like having it done, but hey, them's the breaks !!! Luckily she's on her own anyway & she came with the nasty little critters, so hopefully the big girls won't pick them up

hope you have found some surgical spirit now but if not you might have an aston and fincher hair and beauty supplies near you, or a sally's hair and beauty.

 

if not 'old fashioned' type high street chemists are good and some branches of boots the chemist sell it.

That treatment ought to kill the mites, but you will have to wait some while before the affected scales are moulted off and the legs start to look less scabby.

Just a quick question - How long does the leg need to be 'dunked' for, seconds, minutes ?

 

I got the surgical spirit today so as soon as I get in from work I will be dunking and vaselining Lily

I just pour some into a jar.........just a small one as she's only a Pekin .........dunk the foot in give it a swoosh so it soaks in between her feathers and take it out, whereby she shakes it & covers me , then dunk the second one likewise & smooth vaseline all over both legs.

 

She is none too impressed by the time I've finished, but that's just too bad, the words cruel & kind come to mind
