Feeding advice for bantams (one broody, one moulting)

Does anyone out there know if chickens and guinea pigs could live alongside one another? I have just had a big chicken run built to house my chicken cube. I have four hens and as the area in the run is so large I was wondering if I could put an eglu in there to house guinea pigs. Would they get on or would the hens peck at the guinea pigs.

I have read in some posts on the forum mixed things such as they can live together and then again they cant.

 

I think somebody had a piggy house and separate food for them and the chooks and everything was fine i think

 

I think that as long as you have the space, or you could fence off some of that space to keep them next to eahcother yet separated??

Yes, that's probably the best idea. The run is a nearly 17ft wide by nearly 30ft long. Not quite sure how hubby let me get away with something so big but we do have a huge garden. I only have four hens in there at the moment but am thinking about getting perhaps another 6. But I could cordon off an area for the guinea pigs so perhaps that's the best idea. I just liked the idea of them all running around together. I am also contemplating introducing my puppy labrador (6 mths) to them, she does watch them from the outside but so far I haven't been brave enough to take her in there but she should be ok on the lead. I would love them to get on so if I want to let my hens free range the whole garden Ellie can go out there at the same time.

I have heard that chickens can be attracted to guineas shiny eyes which can lead them to peck them.

Hmmm, that's a thought. There goes my ideal world of all creatures living happily together. Still, if I cordon off the run a bit then there shouldn't be any problems. Thanks to you all for all your help.
