My girls have worms too!

Recommended Posts

Yesterday the three girls escaped and were wandering round the garden. So put them away then picked up the pooh, as I picked up a bit I saw a worm (looked like a bean sprout of bit of spaghetti). So i walked straight in grabbed the phone and made an appnt to see the vet (dont have flubenvet and couldnt wait!!!).

They went today and each had a dose of panacur (sp) and he said he wants to redose them again in 10 days. So no eggs for us for quite a while as I assume have to throw them :( .

I am going to look at getting some flubenvet - where is the cheapest?

I have been checking the poo and not seen anything else but I am really not looking forward to the poohs that have all the worms in - really not good with all that.

Flubenvet is good, it is licensed for chickens and there is no egg withdrawal. Dont rely on looking for worms in poo to give you an indication as to how things are though as you only see worms if things are really bad, the rest of the time when they have worms the poo will contain microscopic eggs so seeing nothing does not mean that they dont have anything.

Quite right, Chucky Mama. My hens had no signs of worms in their poo, were on Verm-X and I thought all was well.

I became concerned when a couple went off lay and were a bit miserable, so I decided to give them Flubenvet. The evidence was in the tray for all to see 48 hours later.

Oh no, sorry to hear that, but at least you have caught it.

If it's any consolation, mine are on day 6 of their Flubenvet and everything's looking good, with no signs of anything today so I'm sure now your girls have been treated they will be back in tip top condition and upping their egg outlay in no time.

I just got some more Flubenvet online. If you search on the web for Flubenvet you will find plenty of stockists and can compare their prices. I ordered mine 2 days ago and it arrived today so its ready for 3 weeks time when I'm going to re-treat them.

Yeah at least its been caught. Seen nothing today in the pooh and been cleaning out the whole cube and run but could be early stages.

Sammy - where did you find the cheapest. Will also search tonight.

Planning on going back for next dose in 10days as vet said and then few weeks later giving the flubenvet which I will buy.

Thanks

Michelle
