Hi,

 

Im quite new to chickens but im going stright in their, i hear some chicks/chickens can sell quite high and im looking to breed my new born chicks next year to prduce some eggs to sell or raise and then sell on.

Can anyone give me an average price of a frizzle, a silkie and a cochin...how much they would sell each at say roghly 15 weeks?

I'd say in the region of £15 to £20 - ish.

 

Have you plans for any cockerels that you may hatch, as they are not easy to sell?

Yh we are looking to have cockerels too for use of breeding and even though difficult to sell if we need to sell a few im sure we will find a home. and i've seen some cochins/silkies or frizzles sell for such as 35 pounds...is that overpriced?

They can sell for up to £35 but they would have to be POL and I would only consider paying that amount if the bird had had all the usual vaccinations that the reputable big breeders give.

POL (point of lay) so 18-20 weeks i think

That is correct. I would do lots of research and costings before you embark upon breeding hens, Chris.

 

The initial outlay will be quite expensive, so it will be quite a while before you are in profit.

Oh i do understand theres a lot to be done. but theres always someone more experience and knowledgable than you or myself in this case and so i just posted to ask for some info. This is mainly for hobby and the eggs as i love animals but would be nce in future to still breed them and then when it does get to 18 week then sell a few and keep a few. to bring a bit of money back in.
