cluckbok
When I went outside this morning I found blood on the path, dotted here and there!, went and checked on the chooks and it looks as though it's come from Matilda's foot. It had stopped bleeding by then. It looks like she's ripped part of her claw off if not all of it!! I can't tell properly cause it's got dried in blood on it. What would you recommend to put on it? She's been acting normal, laying etc, but I wonder whether it's hurting her?? Thanks P.S. Also I mentioned in a post further down (was not replied to!) about Rosie, she sounds as though she's got catarrah in her throat! she's laying normally, eating drinking and perfectly happy but just sounds a little odd. Gamebird
I would clean to offending toe with salt water and then spray it with gentian violet which will stop the others pecking her foot as well as having an antisceptic effect. Egluntyne
If it starts to belled again, rubbing a bit of soap on it will stop it.
cluckbok
OK thanks will do that. Thought genetian violet would help couldn't remember the name of it! Now what about Rosie? she sounds like she's got asthma! It's not really bad but she's been doing it a while. Maybe a check up at vets is in order. Gamebird
Sorry, Cluckbok I can't help you with Rosie's asthma. Maybe a trip to the vet's might be a good idea.

Chiccadees3
They now sell it on the omlet shop website I suggest placing a resonable sized order to make the most of the postage charge. They deilevr next day too!
cluckbok
An update on Matilda, she went to the vets with Rosie and she's fine, the foot is not infected and doesn't need any treatment. I do think it it is well worth having the genetian violet in your medicine cupboard though, you never know when they are going to hurt themselves etc. I suppose it's just like keeping elastoplast in the cupboard for the kids Rosie meanwhile has a chest infection (see thread "Croakie Rosie")
