Prolapsed vent - am I getting it right?

I'm using hemcore in my WIR, which has a solid base. I was wondering how often you all change the bedding in your WIR's.

 

I'm changing mine monthly at present, but don't know if this is too short a time or too long It seems to get dirty quickly (although in fairness that could be because they like to empty the contents of their dustbaths everywhere ) and I do endeavour to poo pick regularly too.

 

I use Loftsan (like Stalosan) when I change the bedding.

I tend to do it when I think it needs doing which really depends on the amount of free-ranging they get Not very specific I know!

 

I know I have never left it more than 6 weeks.

 

I am back to using Aubiose now. I did try Bliss and Bedmax and they don`t last as long.

 

Aubiose looses that lovely white colour quite quickly but dries out the poo much better making it easier to poo pick (which I do most days) I assume hemcore is the same.

 

What I do do once a week is rake ALL the bedding to one end/corner of run, throw some pink fairy dust down with a bit of diatom and then rake the bedding back, poo picking as i go. Then rake it all to the area i have just sprinkled and do the same. The girls assist me with the raking

I do mine about every 6 weeks too. I last did it 4 weeks ago (before my babies arrived!) and it's still looking pretty clean but quite dusty.
