cluckingmad
aye, they do Thanks everyone, this forum's awesome to turn to when things don't go as we'd all hope... but she had a good life with us, she was totally spoilt (as are all the girls) and was able to free-range safely so mustn't be too sad thats she's gone (vet thought it was probably due to her being fairly aged for an ex-batt girl, so she couldn't fight off the parasites as other hens would). Poor hubbie-to-be was so upset when he got home from work - he's made sure that she's been buried in a nice spot in the garden (and he's threatening to make a little wooden cross to mark the spot ) However, have done an additional health check on the other girls and they all look fine, one or two lice/critters spotted but nothing too worrying. There'll be bedlam tomorrow mind - our vet is getting me some red mite powder to dust them with as a precaution, so there'll be me, duting them, other half holding each one in turn and my future brother and father-in-law chasing them round trying to catch them On that subject, don't think it was red mites that got to Millie as they were very active and visible during the day. Can i use the red mite powder to erradicate ALL types of critters or do I need to dust with a louse powder as well as the mite powder (can see the chaos unfolding as I speak...) Plum
Sorry to hear you lost Millie. I would see what falls off them with the powder, you can always go on to use something else.
