Jules.
Its one of my new girls, I'm sure. Naughty chook! But just been down there to check in the NB & today I have 2 half-eaten eggs in there out of 6 hens who should be laying regularly So I had an I'm going to put the in the netted off area where my girls usually free range, put the 3 new girls in it & keep my orginal 6 hens in the WIR all the time. This will establish that its definitely not one of my older hens eating the eggs. Then I'll put each of my new girls in the in solitary confinement in turn to see who is eating the eggs There'll be no problem with re introductions as they can all see each other all the time. Then when I find my naughty culprit its then to decided what to then do with her
Redwing
That sounds like a plan Jules
Ain't Nobody Here
I tested my egg eating theory by putting a recently cracked egg shell on the floor of the WIR. They all fell on it eagerly . I'm wondering if mine are doing it again. I'm lucky if I get one egg every 2 days at the moment.
Redwing
I found out yesterday that my two POL girls are eating the others eggs as they are being laid, Palmer07, Wild Mum and I watched as a layer came out of the Eglu and the two youngsters rushed in for a snack
beulah59
I've heard you can blow an egg and fill it with mustard to put them off ...
Ain't Nobody Here
I tried that . They had a good go at it but then there was some indignant head shaking and beak wiping .
