Ain't Nobody Here
It only arrived today so can't report much yet. It does sit on top of the nestbox alright but I had to put a brick in for it to sit on. However, when I came back after a couple of minutes it was on the roosting bars. It's very lightweight so if a chicken stands on the edge, it tips over. I've now tied it to the brick with some garden wire so hopefully it won't get knocked over. I'm a bit concerned that the eggs will still be visible and I may have to move the box so the eggs actually roll down into the eglu nestbox. A half brick may be required or the eggs may hit the brick and break (defeating the purpose somewhat ). Not sure how feasible it will be to remove it every night so it may be filled with poo every morning (especially if I have 5 girls in there ). Redwing
Is it plausible to shut the Eglu completely and for them to lay in this in a purpose made nestbox elsewhere in the run? You could remove the back set of roosting bars and poo trays and place this in the dip created with the back sticking out of the poo tray gap so the eggs end up there but that is a bit of a faff! Ain't Nobody Here
Tasha, that's a thought I've had. If I put all 5 girls into the eglu to sleep, the pet carrier will be redundant so I could set that up as the only nestbox. We'd have to make sure the eglu door was shut each morning (and that we opened it in the evening again!) I think I'll wait to see if anybody actually lays an egg over the few days. It may not be egg eating after all. (I'm going to worm them this week in case it's that.)

Ain't Nobody Here
As predicted there was a big pile of poo in the box this morning . On the plus side though, Molly laid an egg in it today . I was worried they'd be freaked out by it . Her eggs never seem to get eaten (by the girls ) so the egg eating hasn't been ruled out yet. Clarey
I am interested to know whether your roll away box worked in the end? Would it fit into the Eglu? I have an egg eater...bother!
