What ducks would be best for this setup? PICS

Recommended Posts

Hello! Haven't been on here for a while so for an update check this thread out. It explains everything

Anyway, cut to the chase!

The setup is this...

I have a large area with post and rail fencing with chicken wire on all the way round. This is about 3-4ft high. As you can see there is a large pond and a small orchard thing! The rest of the area is long grass. Now, we would like as many eggs as possible from the easiest ducks to keep, defiantly non-flying ones or ones that never do!

We are thinking of having about 5-7 including maybe one drake. We are currently thinking of 3 indian runners and 3 Khaki campbells? Would this work?

What sort of feeders do you use for your ducks?

Thanks

Tom

Indian runners would be good and give lots of eggs

Our ducks used to eat out of a trough as it allows them to shovel the food

They drank out of a shallow bucket

That pond will get mucky quickly so three ducks would be a good number

You may still need to pump it out routinely though

Unless you specifically need a drake for hatching eggs I wouldnt get one, they can be aggressive towards the girls and ummm pester them constantly
