Hello there – I thought I should finally join the site. (I hope this is the right place?)

I have four chickens, Sól (White Star) Nótt (Magpie) Var (Light Sussex) & Ran (Bluebell), I am new to the chicken keeping world, after only having them a month so far, but I am really enjoying it.

The girls started to lay within days of us having them, though the eggs were paper thin and small, but now they are quite large, we even had a double yoke off Sól on Saturday.

The most we have had in one day is three eggs.

So far Sól and Nótt are definitely laying and Ran & Var have laid but having not ‘caught them’ I'm never sure who’s laying.

No one ever said it would be so addictive! I call my garden chicken Narnia because I ‘pop out’ to feed/water/check the hens and then I am out there for hours!

I hope to be on the site often and look forward to seeing you all

Hello mothernature and welcome to the mad world of the Omlet forum and Chicken Keeping in general. You'll find us all very welcoming and more than happy to offer help and advice. No such thing as a silly question here, so just ask. Oh, and we also like picture (a lot!).

Andrew
