This mite seem like a stupid question but these so called DUST baths that chickens ment to have?

 

what is it that you have to put in the tray? is it saw dust or sand weve heard its sand but not actually to sure?weve made a sand 1 but they dont even go near it

 

any help would be greatly appreciated?

It may take them a while to get used to a new dustbath.

 

Mine have a sand filled one in their run that they use occasionally. Mostly they use the one they made themselves under the hedge which is dry soil - I add some playsand and ashes from the chimnea too to top it up - they love it.

Thanks for the help,just didnt want to leave it in there if they wasnt going to use it but ill leave it in there abit longer and see what happens.

 

thats what ive put init play sand so atleast i know im on the right track
