Alis girls
I am very impressed by the Major and his knowledge of English, underwear and anything else amazes me. I assume hes male as I assumed SJP was female and he wasnt. NCY boobs again. I love Cockney rhyming slang and trained in the East End and picked up quite a bit despite being a midland gal. I'll admit to a good command of the English language and a head full of trivia, but I assure you there's little else to impress. You're right about my being a bloke, though. Yorkshire Pudding
I found out recently that the phrase 'nitty gritty' isn't particularly savoury (or at least its origins aren't, allegedly) and where my husband works, they are positively discouraged from using it. This makes interesting reading... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/1988776.stm I found that interesting - I had always thought that it came from the 'gritty' feeling left in the hair when there is a heavy infestation of lice ('nitty')... hence 'down to the nitty gritty' impying to get right down to the bottom of things or right into the hair (presumably to remove the little blighters).
