jam
Hi Over the last couple of days I have noticed that there are loads of feathers on the floor in the chicken coop, not big feathers, but the small downy ones. They are all mainly white, probably from my light sussex, but there are quite a few black ones mixed in too, either from the black brahma or cuckoo maran. They are all between 5-6 months old. Am I right in thinking that they are too young to start moulting? Is it normal for them to loose so many feathers at once?? CluckyBucks
One of my silkies has been gradually moulting since august, and shes around 6-9 months old. It may depends what breed they are and how quickly they moult. Shes getting into her winter clothes xx xx
