Mrs Frugal
I saw this being made on GMTV the other day and as we don't really like mince pies, I thought it would be worth a try. It is delicious and really easy!!! Mincemeat Tart Ingredients 1 x 10"sweet pastry case 1 x jar of mincemeat 125g x sugar 125g x ground almonds 125g x unsalted butter 3 x eggs 3 x tbsp icing sugar 6 x tbsp water for icing 1 x tsp (or more) of rum. Optional! Method •In a food mixer, mix together the butter and sugar and then add ground almonds, eggs and rum. •Spread the mincemeat over the base of the tart shell then put the almond mixture into a piping bag and pipe over the mincemeat. •Bake in the oven at 180ºC for 30 mins until golden. Then cool. •Next add water to icing sugar and mix well. •Spoon over tart and leave to set. It's definitely going to be on our Christmas menu every year. Lesley
That sounds nice Kate - without the mincemeat of course! I will make one for Carl with the leftover mincemeat but I will also make one with Cranberry and Orange sauce for me. I always make a few 'mincepies' with the cranberry filling as I don't like dried fruit.
Mrs Frugal
Oooh now that sounds nice, Lesley. The topping is by far the best bit anyway so whatever you put underneath (even strawberry jam would be divine) would make a special pudding! Cinnamon
That sounds really nice Kate. I always keep those ready made pastry cases in the house as they are so useful for Quiches & sweet things like this I willcertainly be making one (or two) of these over the Holidays
