BeckyBoo
.....title says it all, we had five Giant African Land snails but this year they started laying eggs - about 150 at a time! First lot went to a pet shop, second lot (and several others) were chicken food, the rest went in the freezer then the bin, but I missed three the first time so we had 8, then I missed a couple more eggs so we had 11 and in the end I just couldn't cope with keep killing snails on a monthly basis. So I advertised them free to a good home at work and a local school has taken them as part of their rainforest display - I did warn them what they were taking on but it's down to them now. So, getting low on animals now, which I should be glad about as I'm flat out working, kids, dog, cat, chickens, fish etc, but I can't help thinking there's a gap there now.... Chook n Boo Mum
Maybe one day you'll have the time & space in your life for a single celibate snail Sha x
BeckyBoo
No no! They do it all by themselves!! I had to promise (with my fingers crossed behind my back) that if we ever found another tank we could have one back - but it will be a cold day in hell to be honest! They were actually stunning, amazing and very interesting, but all those eggs..... BeckyBoo
Seagazer
Hmm been there done that. My lovely cousin persuaded me to have some of her land snails, boy can they reproduce. I didn't know about the freezing thing at the time. In the end I found somewhere that wanted them and sent them off. I was so relieved.
