Chicken boarders

My Rasputia (partridge cochin) is 16 weeks old now. She and Tiggy (legbar) are still making chick noises and are not clucking yet. Rasputia also makes a noise like a party blower, particularly when upset or excited. She doesn't do any neck stretching...

 

When do they start bokking? Could Rasputia be a Norbit? Has she got a sore throat ?!?

oh dear. I'll have a chat with Wernlas tomorrow, surely they can't have made such a mistake? The tail is not tilted up like a male's, but at 16 weeks the comb's starting to grow and face to pinken. Fingers crossed.

well fingers crossed, I've been googling pics of male and female young cochins and she definitely looks like a female one. I do hope she is, she's really bonded with her legbar eglu mate and we all absolutely love the pair of them.

This may not be relevant at ALL, BUT, do some chickens make different noises from others, even the same breeds?

 

The only reason I ask is I've had cats all my life, and one cat "Fudge", used to "Quack", not Meow, nor chirp, but Quack, sort of a "Mwak" sound. Thats just the voice he had... could this be true of chickens?
