Eglu cube or go up with 2m run

I've just ordered on of these because my girls are free-range and sometimes I don't get home from work till 10pm - far too late! Does anyone lese have one? Any tips for best use?

I don't have one but have had my eye on one for a while - I'm very jealous A friend of a friend has one and they said it was worth every penny! Does yours have the timer with it?

I didn't order the timer but I think I could easily add one at a later date. I will be using the extra little door you can put inside your main pop-hole door. I will go out and shut the outer door as well when I do eventually get home, and I don't mind getting up at a reasonable hour to let them out in the morning. I gather Mr Fox can still be around early in the morning so I don't really want them coming out too early.

I'm glad your friend is pleased! I wonder whether it is difficult to get the timing right? It takes my girls about 10 minutes to go to bed. They hang around at the bottom of the ladder having a natter and looking up at their front door before they make their minds up. I don't want them to end up shut out!

silly question, I have looked it up on tinternet but wonder if it can be used with a cube or is it just for wooden huts.

Hi Jackie! I've never seen am Omlet Cube but I think I've read that they won't work together. Have a look at the web-site though - you might be able to tig something up.

You'd have to put a wooden frame on the outside of the cube or a little tunnel with the pop hole on the end, fine if you have a walk in run - more tricky if you have the standard cube run

Mine arrived last week

 

What I didn't know was that you can adjust the light sensitivity settings (I didn't get the timer) so if your chickens are late in going in (some of mine hang around till it is getting really gloomy) they won't be stuck out, and if yours are early girls you can set it to close earlier.

 

Just thought I'd let you know as for me this took away the need for the timer.
