Egluntyne
Never heard of woodchip turning eggs green. You would be best googling for a local suppler.

abwsco
Debbie, he's from Blackpool. I know he goes all over but not sure if he visits Blackburn. Gill posted his number on Practical forum but I can't find it now. Know it was a free phone one though!

Oooh! I was going to Croston Corn Mill tomorrow - Isn't Easibed just bog standard shavings though? Do they have Hemcore or Aubiose at Croston? abwsco
Kate, isn't KCS at Cottam nearer or even nearer is the pet place up at Lytham by McD's. They will order it in for you if they've none in stock. I now use Easibed from KCS and have had Hemcore from the pet place. Oh and also worth ringing Stannah Feeds to see what they have as they do free delivery. Oh, and another one - Woodys at Kirkham

They will order it in for you if they've none in stock. Croston is not too far from where I work, and a friend thought they might have Hemcore. Pet Express in Lytham only have shavings. I fancy something a bit more fibrous, as the run of my eglu still gets a bit wet despite the 'roof' over the pergola, and I thought shavings would just go soggy, but bark chippings while better draining, from the garden centre are too expensive to use regularly. Though something more fibrous like Hemcore would be a compromise.
jackthelad
They do have hemcore at croston but the lady there talked us out of using this for chickens as there was something mixed in it that she wasn't sure would be good for them and their respiratory system. As we were new to keeping chickens we took her advice but I see many people on the site here use it without problems. They seem to have many different bale types as they cater for horses. They are also open sat and sunday 9am til 12noon. Its great we only live 5mins away
