Back at the vets!

Recommended Posts

Well, last week it was Phillip, (who is now fine) today it is Dusty (Springfield). She is one of my very small new ones ( weighs 300gms) and I could hear her wheezing from the end of the run when I let her out this morning.

So back to our lovely new vet. He's given me enough Baytril for all 6 little ones for a week.

Dusty is inside watching Formula 1, eating Weetabix and looking a lot more perky!

Let's hope that's the end of it...

Had a marathon chicken move around.

Phillip has gone back to his girls ( hugs all around from the two wives). 3 smaller babies (including Dusty who is much better) have moved into the green eglu, lately vacated by Phillip ( everything disinfected etc); the 3 medium sized babies now have room to grow in the red eglu. These 6 are in Baytril.

The two girls we are trying to integrate with Phillip and his wives remain a problem.

Before Phillip was released from custody, Teddie was found really beating Babs up. She'd trapped her in a cat carrier which is a spare nest box for Joy ( who I found making a nest in it earlier so she really is about to come into lay). I tipped Teddie out and made her submit, then took Babs off for a once over. She was more terrified than hurt. Joy came right over and has stayed close to her all afternoon and neither will go anywhere near the big ones.

So I'm afraid I've separated Joy and Babs again from the 3 big ones. Thank goodness for Omlet netting!

I'll put Joy and Babs to sleep together then get up at the crack of dawn to hoik them out and they'll be on the babies side of the garden tomorrow.

I'm worn out!! And thinking about ordering another cube tomorrow.........

Well, the good news is that the poorly little one is much better - in fact, fingers crossed, everyone seems on top of the world - in their separate accommodation!

Because we have had some more moving around.....

The three little babies and the three bigger babies created so much about being apart that they are back together in one eglu! Pushover? Moi? I now have to decide between getting a converter and extension to give them more space - or another cube ( I know which is the cheapest, but another cube has so many possibilities...)

Joy and Babs are sleeping back in the green eglu by choice - they won't even go near the Omlet netting which is separating them from the big three and are staying glued by the side of " their run" ( they can free range around it but seem to be choosing not to) - so I think we are back at Square 1 with integration!

But hopefully no more vets for a while. Thanks for all your good wishes.
