Guest
Hi No they wont stay with the same feathers you got them with. Your ducks look like they are moulting to me! They do moult and our wild mallards(who all look female for a few weeks end of the summer, now we can tell they are either male or female). They moult in the autumn and then will get their full feathers and it will happen again next autumn etc the one on the right looks like he is going to be a he(green neck appearing) so no need to worry all perfectly normal Very nice ducks too indie
Lesley
I agree with Indie - they do look as if they are moul, ting. Lovely photos!

Guest
Yes From the second photo (moulting ) the one on the right looks male and will have nice coloured plummage. Also the males tend to have a more coloured bill (orange/yellow varies) and a very nice curl in the tail(if you look on breeds at the top of this web page you can see the difference from the pictures. The one on the left looks female and will be light beige speckled brown Good luck it will become more obvious..the males tend to follow the females around too. indie
Lesley
Also, the ducks quack whilst drakes make a more muted sound.
Uptang Lee
I had a look this morning and both ducks have curls on thier tails I will have to try and get a good picture of them both next to each other to see if you's can point out lol. Ive also heard you can sex them by the quacking but they both seem the same to me lol.
