biccy99
Hi guys, I'm really worried about one of my ex-batts, Hetty. It all started on Monday when I noticed she had really runny poos. I asumed she had overdosed on the treats of leftover veggies from our Sunday lunch, and thought no more of it. But she is still no better, and as far as I can tell, she hasn't eaten much of anything for the last few days. Up until this morning she was reasonably alert, although she wouldn't eat even when we brought her in the house and offered her her favourite marmite on toast. This morning she is hunched up, not alert at all, and when I picked her up I noticed she has lost lots of weight. Her crop is empty apart from water which I see her drinking all the time, and her comb is floppy and purple on the edges. Any advice guys? I'm sure she really needs a vet, but as it's Sunday, any ideas how I could at least get her to eat something? The chicks all get citricidal and Battle's poultry drink in their water, and garlic powder in their pellets. All the other chicks are fine. Thanks Michelle
Patricia W
I gave my poorly one weetabix mixed with yogurt- if you make it sloppy she may be tempted or you can spoon/syringe in. Tricia
Egluntyne
I'd keep her on just pellets and water for now. The only additives being bokashi bran if you have some to hand, and live yoghurt. If it is because she has OD'd on veg then it should settle. Have they been wormed recently?
biccy99
She won't eat anything at all by herself, I have managed to syringe feed her some weetabix mixed with warm milk, but that's all - she's not interested really. They were wormed with flubenvet 4 months ago - is it worth doing again? On the bright side, since I brought her inside, her comb is not purple any more, still floppy though. She must have been struggling to keep warm, bless her.. She is now snuggled up for the night in the cat box, sleeping on a hot water bottle.
