I got the cube but I always thought these looked 8) and you can extend with runs - http://www.flytesofancy.co.uk/chickenhouses/Cottage_Hen_House_2.html

Are you going to make one? :D

Make one?:lol::lol: If you knew me you would know how funny that questionswas  In fact you would feel sorry for any hen that may live in my home made house :anxious:

I'd say cost and convienience (and nickability) are the most important factors for me. I don't live in the nicest area and I found some lovely children 'scrumping' apples from my tree (Is that a term). I live in an inner city terrace house. So i'm worried about owning a classic eglu/go as they are easy to 'half inch' in the big sceme of things (i think). A cube or wooden house may suit me better. But the cube ain't cheep (sorry couldn't help it :anxious: ) but the ease of use is right up my street.

Maybe i'm worrying about nothing as apples are the only thing i've ever had pinched from my garden and my sons toys sit out there all day every day.

I digress, yes that house looks beeutiful. There are soooo many to choose from.

I went to a large pet store and got to see a cheap one and the quality is abysmal.

I like the look of these

and this http://www.woldstimberbuildings.co.uk/penthouse.html among others.

Then I ask myself, how many birds do I want? Well it seems from every chicken forum that you can never have enough!

Ygerna - you have a lot to answer for :shameonu:

....but I bet you were a nice, polite scrumper not "lovely" as I've just read rarara's post :anxious::lol:

Good luck in your hunt for a suitable house.........or a small lottery win to fund a cube quickly :D

We just added nest boxes and a removable perch (after the pics were taken) to our old shed and added a fold down flap onto it.

It makes cleaning out a lot easier because you have a lot of headroom plus it gives you more room for feeders and drinkers. Plus it's cheap and easy.
