alligg
Hi All I know there has been a topic regarding bedding but my question is about flooring for an outside run. We have been using bark chippings that we got from B & Q. Now they have got all wet and smelly and mushed up with the bad weather and we are about to dig them all out,we are just unsure what to replace them with.do we get fresh bags of bark or is there something else which would be better.we use stallasan to disinfect the run on a regular basis. Any help would be much appreciated Alli
greenfreek
I use bark and its been fine. Before we had the roof on the WIR i used to turn mine over with a fork every few days to get the fresher stuff to the top and the poo to the bottom. Since we've had the roof, i still do this but i dont need to do it as often.
Redwing
Woodchips are far better Hardwoodchips are nice and chunky and are the best. Spftwoodchips are long chips or shreds and are still much more preferable to bark You can get both from B&Q Some people use rubber chips but there are varying reviews on those from the 'they are absolutely fantastic' to the 'never again!' beulah59
My bark chips are wet ... I think the water would run off woodchip much better, but it is so much more expensive ...
