Cate in NZ
I caught a little of this programme in the car today, again on the supermarket vs "natural" foods debate & a bit about the growing trend for chicken keeping. Thanks to R4's wonderful listen later via the internet system I intend to listen to the remainder of the programme now, but thought I'd post the details here in case any one else was interested. Fingers crossed the link works http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/news/shoptalk/

SarahJo
Today Jeremy Vine R2, were doing a slot on "green" issues, and presenting Mock news bulletins, of what may be to come. At the end, they had a lady discussing what we can all do NOW, to help the environment. . Anyway OH, and I were stripping wallpaper in the kitchen and I kept shouting .. "keep chickens" ... the lady continued with her suggestions ... and THEN suggested everyone keep chooks, and have their own protein production. Great for eating kitchen s"Ooops, word censored!"s ... and she is awaiting delivery of hers. I wondered if these would be Omlet birds .... and even though Mr Vine seemed to be promoting her to name drop .. Alas she did not. I however continued to lecture Graham, on the trend of the hens in the garden, and how fab they are ... and how I am getting another . Mel (& Paul)
I caught the tail end of Steve Wright - he was talking to that "no waste like home" woman (not sure that I believe she cycles everywhere........) She mentioned chickens and said hers were Tom and Barbara. Thief!! Ours are Tom and Barbara, and Margot (Well REALLY Jerry) and Jerry. I think we should sue........... Lesley
On BBC Breakfast this morning, two people had sent photos of hens called Nugget! Henno and Nugget were on and someone with an Eglu - missed her name.
