megghen
hi! im new on here, but been browsing for a little while and especially enjoying the pictures ive got 7 banties- RIR, buff sussex, speckled sussex, welly, lav araucana, ameraucana and my new girl cuckoo maran. i dont think my welly is very well, she has been quiet the last couple of days and not eating as much. she looks ok, not hunched up and not molting. i checked her tonite and her crop wasnt tightly packed like usual - it felt more like she had been eating soup.her poos are normal, could it be the miserable weather we are having? anyone elses girls like this? love to hear from you, many thanks megghen
Plum
Hello, welcome but I am sorry your girl is not well. Perhaps she is getting ready for a moult. I would check her crop in the morning and see if it empties.
Redwing
Hi and welcome your flock sounds nice and varied! Keep an eye on your hen, if her crop feels squishy she could have sour crop, a search on here on or Google will give you the symptoms to check against your hen

megghen
thankyou all for your kind words and advice. Her crop does feel squishy but isnt any bigger than usual - her breath doesnt smell. i watched her in the garden for an hour this afternoon and shhe was scratching around ok but seemed fussy about what she actually ate - obviously not much as the others have very full crops and hers feels empty but watery?
