Alis girls
Have got a bread maker and the bread doesnt last long but how do other Omleters store their bread. i wrap in greaseproof and foil. I like the look of the terracotta bread pots but do they do the job?
majorbloodnock
Eventually, home made bread will never last as long as commercial bread, for the basic reason that preservatives are one of the obvious candidates for omission. Having said that, it also depends somewhat on the recipe you're using, since french bread (being low in fat content) is notoriously quick to go stale. Personally, if I'm cooking up several loaves, I'll leave one for eating immediately and then slice up all the others and freeze them. If each sliced loaf is reassembled, none of the slices suffer from freezer burns, so they'll be perfect once defrosted again. As for terracotta jars, I find the biggest problem is size. The amount of bread I can fit in one is such that my family would have demolished it before it had a chance to go off anyway.
Mrs Frugal
I do the same as Majorbloodknock and make 4 x 1lb loaves, slice and freeze them. They freeze perfectly and taste as good as they do fresh and it saves me having to bake bread so frequently.

chickencam
I freeze mine too, even if I intend to use the next loaf for making sandwiches the following evening I will freeze it overnight, that way it stays pretty fresh. I also have a huge lock and lock box that will fit 2 1lb loaves just about.
