redfrock
I have just made Delia's Christmas pud, only I obviously got muddled somewhere along the line because I was sure it was meant to make 2 (maybe I looked at her old recipe initially) but this recipe from her new book has only made 1 x 2 pint pudding. I needed to make 2, so will the stout keep in the fridge for a week? I know it sounds daft to have not realised from the ingredients but it was another late night weighing and mixing as hubby took ill yesterday afternoon, very suddenly, and very poorly with what appears to be the dreaded swine flu. I have never seen the poor boy so ill
majorbloodnock
Yes, the stout should be OK at the end of the week. If in any doubt, take a small swig and you'll soon know. Alternatively, take lots of large swigs now and then get some more stout next weekend; far better plan
chickencam
The old recipe certainly makes 2, I haven't seen the new one. You could put some cling film over the can, but I would do as the Major says and drink it and buy some more. I hope that your OH feels better soon. My YD had this last week, she was very poorly, but is better now, it took a full 7 days for her to look like herself again. My other 2 children are suffering similar symptoms this week but less severe.
Egluntyne
How about freezing it?
majorbloodnock
How about freezing it? For this amount, it almost certainly wouldn't be an issue, but I believe one of the reasons freeze distillation is illegal in many countries is that it tends to concentrates certain benzene compounds. redfrock
Alas I don't drink .... at all! And OH is in no fit state to at the mo (although he is starting to improve). I'll just pop another bottle in my Ocado basket for the weekend, and the pud simply won't get to mature as long as it should have

Does that mean I shouldn't be freezing bits of left over wine to add to casseroles etc? Oh no! :lo:
