jjmack
Hi, The girls have been here for a week and seem very settled. Mildred escaped from me to day but managed to get her again had visions of her taking off into next door as I have yet to chicken proof the garden! Any way. I have got some netting from Knowles (really quick delivery - 24hrs!) and have kind of cobbled together a temp extension for the run that leads up to the hedge so they can root about underneath (it has a fence the other side so they can't get out). They had a little root around in there before going to bed and seemed very happy. Anyway it is a bit of a phaff as the eglu and run share the swing area, so I want something that I can take up and down easily, using bamboos is a pain and i am currently attaching the netting with ties so I can see me getting bored with the idea. So I wondered if any one has any experience of making a fold up run extension with netting or mesh that I can alter the shape of according to where the kids are playing? Once i have chicken proofed the garden they will be able to go a bit further afield. All ideas/ photos gratefully received! Thanks Jane
Ain't Nobody Here
Omlet netting & poles are fab for that kind of thing . They are quite pricey but are very well made and sturdy. You can occasionally get half a length in the "for sale" section.
Plum
Yup I use that and have cut it into shorter lengths so I can put it where I want. I have knowles net as well but its not that easy to put up and down in a hurry as you have found and leave it in more permanent places around the rockery. Note though, if you do get it you can't electrify it once cut.
