Chick-a-doodle-doo
but can anyone tell me if it matters if my chickens get wet! The cube has some cover but if they don't go under the coop area they will get wet.. They seem to be trying to catch worms at the moment! but I'm just worried if they get too wet. Any ideas please? skye
Hiya! Is it horrible where you are today too, Got My? It's just chucked it down all morning here I think generally chickens don't mind getting wet as long as they have somewhere to shelter if they need to. My chickens regularly get soaking wet and look like they have mohicans! However new ex-batts aren't as well feathered as normal hens and also don't necessarily know about when to shelter, so I would try and keep them as dry as possible for the first week or two until they get used to living outside. Maybe I'm just a bit over-cautious though. We've just got a Homebase shower curtain secured with bunjees over our eglu run. skye x
Chick-a-doodle-doo
yep, it's awful.. but the good news is one of my girls is sheltering under the coop. I feel better knowing they will if they want too. bless em. I think I'm marding them too much, I wouldn't go out today to make sure they are ok. Got another 2 eggs today..I have one of them that lays really big ones. She's the most adventurous too, down first etc. I think that one will be called Katie.. Camillia is my weak one. Can't distinguish between lucy and Sam yet but I'm sure I will.
The Dogmother
It's best to keep their run dry to prevent bacteria breeding in the litter and so that they don't get and problems with the scales on their feet and legs. A clear shower curtain or tarpaulin is fine
poachedegg
Dont know where you are in Cheshire , but IKEA do a clear shower curtain for 85p that lots of Omleteers use (like me ).
