welovemarmite
I got my girlies at the end of September and three of them are laying well. Madras, our speckled, has only been laying for about a week or so and was giving us an egg most days. However, the shell is really thin and today was broken. They all have the same diet. Anything else I can do to help or is this just early day syndrome?
chelsea
Soft shelled eggs and odd shaped eggs are very common in the early days, give her some time and it should settle down once she's in the swing of things. Do they have easy access to a grit supply?
sjp
put a slug of cod liver oil in the feed if you've got any dandilion leaves there a good source of calcium
welovemarmite
Thanks - they have plenty of grit. I will try the cold liver oil and see what happens. I guess I am just being a bit impatient.
