Gem_Seb
Ive been given a friendship cake! has anyone ever done one?! I have a tub of yeast and i have to take care of it for 10 days! stiring it and adding milk and flour on day 5, then there will be enough mixture to split into 5 on day 9 to give to 5 friends then on day 10 i need to add eggs, milk, baking poweder, sugar, flour, cinnamon and cook and eat! Its called a Hermon cake! Im intrigued by this growing process but not sure if i like the idea of something that has been going around for 'how long'!!! Chook n Boo Mum
I had one last summer.....did everything I should have with it.... fed it, talked to it, stirred it three times clockwise every day etc ......at the given day I mixed in the extras & baked it....no one else ate it but I did, it was very nice actually! I worked on the theory it was cooked for long & hot enough to kill off anything nasty.....and I'm still here with no ill effects Sha x
Valkyrie
Sounds like a variation on the soda bread theme. Hope it works and you enjoy it.
Chucky Mama
I have had one in the cupboard for a month that the children were given that we haven't got around to doing yet. I don't know if it will be any good to use now.
bluekarin
My mum used to do these when I was a teen! Always a cloth covered bowl in one corner of the kitchen. It did taste nice, and if I remember rightly, you had to get rid off all the mixture after so long and start with a new batch.
