CharLeila
Hi, Might sound stupid but can chickens be trained to poo in one area of your garden? I like to let them free range as much as poss but the poo is everywhere. Sam, Paul, Charlie & Leila
Daphne
Unfortunately not! However, many people keep give their birds an area of the garden which is netted off using Omlet netting or similar. This meets many people's needs for a shared-use garden, and you can buy netting up to 100m long and/or overlap it so the hen-pen could be enormous if your garden allows! Aggienator
Thanks for reminding me, I really must get some netting. With winter nights and weather I haven't been poo-picking for a while and it is getting a bit hazardous out there
Reikiranf
I don't mind the chicken poo, it's the cat poo I can't stand & DH says our cat deliberately does it where she knows we'll step in it Mind you she is nearly 19 so she's probably not really aware of what she's doing, DH also says I should stop making excuses for her
CharLeila
Reikiranf, I agree with your DH. I'm actually surprised that your cat does it's buisness in your garden (obviously well trained). All the cats that live near me seem to think my garden is a litter tray. Hopefully, the introduction of my 2 girls will sort them out, they've already scared a couple away and we haven't seen them in our garden since. Aggienator, I'm going to do the same. I have a nice bit at the top of my garden that I'll section off for them. It's not so much of an issue now but in the summer time, it would be nice for my children to enjoy the garden too without the risk of being covered in chook poo.
