Hi

 

I was wondering when silkies start laying eggs? Mine were born in early september and so i was wondering if someone could give me a month range of when its typical tey lay, bearing in mind the cold winter and what seasn it will be etc.

 

Also i have sme polands that were born early - mid october, does anyne kno what month the girls will start laying bearing in mind the weather and seasons etc.

I'd go with about May time for both lots

my god! thats ages away, oh i might have to go and buy some chickens from somewhere Anyone know where i can get Black/gold laced polands or silver/black laced polands near essex as POL's?

You might be lucky, some do lay earlier, after about 25 weeks is a possibility so all is not lost

Even buying in pure breeds in the spring (especially bantams) won't guarantee you eggs until maybe April so it's probably easier waiting.

They'll lay when they are good & ready, and nothing will make them lay sooner if they don't want to
