Cranfield Kate
does anyone know if they're okay to give to chickens? I was given a big bag of them but i'm not sure and when i googled it i just came up with a lot of recipes for chicken and pesto...
debbier
Bloomin' eck! I know my hubby sometimes accuses me of spoiling my chooks, but he'd think I'd gone barking mad if I started feeding them pine nuts. They are very expensive! I have a recipe for an italian pine nut tart, and they are totally scrummy toasted and used as a salad topping. I toast them with sunflower and pumpkin seeds for a cous-cous topping. btw, sorry, I haven't a clue if they are ok to give to chooks. I'd have thought so, but it still seems a waste
Cranfield Kate
I know, but I don't like them...
Valkyrie
I do now and again (and blooming heck they've gone up even more in price), but like other nuts and things it's only in moderation. I think it's something to do with the fat content in them.
Redwing
yes they are fine, in moderation of course!
Cranfield Kate
okey doke - thanks all. i thought the fat content might be an issue but given the cold weather i figured a little might not be a bad idea.
