They eat well, there are usually pellets left over and they get sweetcorn, greens and mixed corn during the day. They are digging and eating all day long. I've learnt to check their crops which are always full at night and empty in the morning but their breastbone seems quite prominent. The Dogmother Posted January 19, 2010 Share Posted January 19, 2010 It is more prominent on some chooks than others. A few of my banties are skinny minnies, the others have more covering. You should always be able to feel their keel though. The key is to get used to how each individual chooks feels so that you know if they are ailing.
