Can you help us identify them?

 

We think we have white and exchequer leghorns, light and silver sussex, not sure about the fresian fowl, dorking?, cuckoo maran?

 

The small bantams might be dutch.

 

Confusing.

 

Any assistance welcome!

The one you think is a Maran looks like a Barnebar to me (looks like my Peri)

 

124 looks like a Barred Wyandotte bantam

 

106 is a light sussex

 

You have white leghorns/white stars if hybrids too

 

As for the others, can't say with great confidence, but you have a lovely flock

I have cuckoo marans and they look the same, so that's one sorted! I think you could be right with the exchequors too

The buff Wyandotte (170) is super

 

Not sure about the barred Wyandottes, the legs are quite long on the one in the foreground in pic 167 so that might be a cross, the other one is better.

 

164 is a lovely Welsummer

Glad to find so many experts, I had someone asking to buy some but as I couldn't put a brand on all of them I felt a bit of a fraud. The hybrids are warrens, most of them are 'rescue chickens' from a farm which looked like chicken hell on earth...had to bring them home

 

Most of the breeds you have identified were hatched August/September so they are still relatively young (compared to the warrens with zimmer frames!)

 

Our little black frizzle is king of the hill.

 

We lost a shed full to a badger last September, what a mess, they just eat the meaty bits and leave them alive, just. I now hate Brock.

 

The sussex is a BIG bird, as big as a small turkey...

I have a managerie too:

 

Four horses (two in foal), we breed the coloureds, Maggie now lives in East Sussex, Lizzie and Emilie are in Birmingham (a green bit).

 

Two Jack Russells (one rescue) and a border collie cross Heinz 57 (rescue).

 

One goldfish (rescue).

 

Two budges.

 

Two rabbits.

 

80 chickens (20 rescue and four free gifts)

 

Five children...one wife (rescue).

You have quite a menagerie evanowen!

 

I have:

 

6 Arabian horses (shared with a friend), 2 in foal.

 

1 dog at home and 2 at the yard

 

2 rabbits

 

8 ducks

 

54 chickens (last time I counted!) soon going up to 63!

 

1 annoying brother

 

2 parents

The only one I disagree on is the Silver Sussex cockerel. He's beautiful but he isn't a pure Silver Sussex, though I don't actually know what he's crossed with (possibly Light Sussex??).

I forgot to mention that we bought all the eggs on eBay, most were hatched in an incubator but six were placed under a silkie who allowed the frizzles to help.

 

If anyone fancies buying some off eBay they should be careful with the sellers, most are genuine.
