Little Clucker
Hmm, I know most topics like this are about how to STOP broody hens being all broody, however my new brahma cockerel BC has been doing his job and I'm now getting about 17 fertilised eggs a week But.... None of my girlies are feeling the urge to knit little chickie booties and wondered if there is anything I could do to encourage them to want to sit? I'd get an inccy but have nowhere to put it (plus Simon cat would think I was hatching him breakfast and he can open doors the little devil) so unless someone near me has a space for a few eggs I'm stuck for what to do now x
Redwing
Some breeds are more prone to broodiness so in some cases you will be waiting a while One way of encouraging broodiness however is to leave some eggs in the nest rather than removing them quickly, you can use 'pot' (fake) eggs if you want to remove the proper ones
Little Clucker
Cheers, I think they might be gearing up for something; I have to go out and keep checking I only have three girls; I've been getting 5/6 eggs a day for the past 2 days Hmm pot eggs would be good so I can bribe the neighbours with the real ones! Although they seem happy to get one of the first boys who will be in for the chop!
Lewis
Pot eggs would probably give them the idea Where abouts are you?
