ScissorChix
Has anyone else had this problem or do you have any suggestions ? Got my new chooks last Saturday and they are living in an ark(roost and nest above/run below accessed by ramp). They weren't too sure bout where to roost so i left the bedside light(torch) on for them and thats fine now they know where to go despite a few teething probs. The problem i now have is they don't get out of bed in the morning and come down to eat???? I have posted them down the hatch every morning! today for instance i left then thinking maybe they are cold or still a little stressed??? but they still werent down by 11.30 so i "posted" them through the pophole in the floor of the bedroom again. I am now wondering if i am doing the right thing should i risk leaving them there all day?? Are they arguing over who is the boss so all being stubborn?? Once they are down they stay down although i tried posting just one chook Esme the bantam and she had a fill of mealworms then went back to bed. Short of installing a loud speaker system ala Big Brother i am at a loss as to what to do. I think i am scaring them too much and the ark is such a stupid design it is hard to get at the chooks for handling. What do you think the best course of action is to get them down and to get them used to me handling them???
Patricia W
I had this with my bantams and the cube- but first one got the idea, then another and finally all 4 were going up and down. I think handling them is good - it will get them used to you Tricia
ScissorChix
Yay! they finally got the idea isnt it always the way you put the question out there and it happens! Now about that lottery win!
TAJ
When mine wouldn't come out of the cube initially I just but some mixed corn as a treat in the run - surprisingly they all worked out how to get down instantly then. Tracy
