Having taken the advice of many an Omleteer I’ve improved my Classic set-up by extending the run, putting corrugated roofing over the top and installing a pond liner base with aubiose bedding. It’s such a great improvement on the stinking mess of woodchips and mud i was left with after the recent thaw.

 

My question to people with this set-up is how do you clean the Eglu effectively without getting the aubiose wet? Do you detach it from the run and hose it down separately? I have extended the pond liner up the edges of the run and the Eglu and when cleaning it out today I just washed it carefully with soapy water and wiped it down with clean water afterwards, but i wasn’t able to get the hose pipe on it like normal.

 

Am I missing an obvious way to give this a more thorough clean?

I detach mine from the run and blast them with a pressure washer.

Does any one know if it safe to use ant bacterial kitchen wipes on the roosting bars after a weekly clean out of the poo tray. I have been s"Ooops, word censored!"ing it but there are usually tiny bits left?

 

I usually leave the real scrub out as a monthly job when I rake out the wood chips.

I wouldnt use the wipes, when I s"Ooops, word censored!"e off my roostings bars I normally just leave the surface marks for the big cleans but if I am feeling really energetic I take out a damp sponge scourer with me (not the same one we use for washing up )
