Primrose laid an egg today

 

why the exceitment? she hasnt laid for over 2.5 months, and even then it was occasional.

 

I wonder if it was anything to do with the arrival of Snowdrop & Crocus yesterday?

 

the egg is striped in various shades of brown and rather elongated, do you think shes been trying to lay it for some time?

my very unexpected 1st egg of the year today was also elongated, and laid in the run as it happens. I figured a) it took whoever laid it by surprise and b) maybe her laying tackle will take an egg or two to settle down, I don't normally get eggs this shape.

Pippa nearly always lays elongated eggs and is currently only laying every other day, she also hardly ever lays in the nest box (about once a month so I know she knows its there) and tends to lay exactly where she is at the moment she needs to lay never mind how inconvenient it might be for me to retrieve the egg
