emmab
Hey all! Just wondering, do any of you have pet insurance for your chickens? If so, from who? With a £50 vet's bill yesterday, my husband out of work and another trip to the vets next week it's going to be expensive! I can only find insurance for dogs, cats, horses or rabbits-not chickens!! x
JS1
I haven't seen chicken insurance either, but our dog insurance has a £70 excess in any case, so it might not be that much of a saving when you take the premiums into account. Hope the invalid is better now?
Olly
Sorry to hear about your poorly chicken. I'm not aware of anyone having pet insurance for chickens - I think it would be prohibitively expensive, as they are not the most robust of creatures. Egluntyne
We looked into it once and there was a firm that would insure them....as exotic pets.... and the premiums were ridiculous as I recall. Best to save a bit each month and dip into it as necessary.
sjp
I think you'll find that chickens wont be classed as pets but livestock so pet insurance firms wont want to know or charge stupid prices
emmab
Didn't think about them being classed as livestock but you're right i should save a bit each month! (very unlikely though-i'm rubbish at saving!)
