Bunnyish
Now that the rain has stopped, i have managed to get up the garden to collect eggs and sort the girls feed out.. and my my how noisey one of them is being!! Poppy has got such a gob on her! The house over the back to us has got their back door open, im just worried about them complaining, she is being soo loud! Im at the front of the house and she is up the back of my garden (about 42 odd ft away) and i can hear her! I have bribed with some warm mash and peas to shut her up, what else can i do to try and keep shush?? We have butted right up next to the WIR and temp run with the 2 new girls in so they can get used to each other and buddy up, i know she being a noise bag because of them also, but any ideas??? Olly
It probably is the new girls setting her off, but I'm afraid I have one really noisy chicken, and I don't think there is much you can do about it. If I hear her, then I go up and distract her with some treats, but I dread to think what she does during the day when I'm at work - I just tell myself it's not as bad as a barking dog, and it's no noiser than a flock of geese going over (although admittedly they wouldn't hover overhead for minutes at a time!) You could try things like scattered treats (birdseed or similar) which will keep her busy but I don't think anything will distract for that long. docsquid
Funny, because my chooks have been a bit noisy today too - maybe the nice weather has set them off. Megan was really pushy, jumping onto the dustbin and tapping on the window with her beak, then BwAAAArk-Bok-Bokking until I gave them some mealworms! They were noisy first thing too - normally they wait until they hear me coming downstairs and turning on the kitchen light before they start making a noise, but this morning they were all Bwaarking at the top of their voices from 7am, and I had to get up early to feed them to shut them up! I really hope I don't have to get up ever earlier, at least until the weather warms up and I can leave the cube door open at night. I suspect that won't stop them Bwaarking though. Kittycat
I hate to say it but I suspect your chickens have you under their little claws If you read through your threads there appears to be a pattern...chicken makes noise, chicken gets treats, chicken shuts up...They're actually quite intelligent
C&T
I was putting it down to Spring being in the air... They have certainly started being a bit noisier at the moment.
