jjmack
Hi, have just noticed while the girls were free ranging that the rhubarb is putting in a show in exactly the place they like to root around. Do i need to curtail access? Is it poisonous? Have had them since October and they have had pretty free range of the flower / veg beds, I suspect that now things are putting in an appearance with the warmer (!) weather I may have to fence off bits.!!! legend21
I am sure on the website there is a list of poisonous things and I pretty sure Rhubarb is not one of them Jackie
Olly
Rhubarb IS poisonous, and it's not recommended. Having said that, my girls more or less shredded the plant while my back was turned, and suffered no ill-effects. You won't get any rhubarb if you let them near it, probably safest to fence it off. Chicktastic
Completely off the subject.......well not quite, but I was telling a friend about the impending arrival of my chooks tomorrow and she was telling me that her rhubarb plant was on its last legs, so she put some chicken poo on it!!! She was amazed when it came to life better than ever!!! And people say chickens are a waste of space shame on them!!!
