snowcloud
There is also a similar service on the Waitrose site, if you haven't seen it, try here... http://www.waitrose.com/food_drink/recipes/index.asp ... which is great and lets you look specifically for nut-free, gluten free, etc. They have over 3,500 recipies, so check it out... Sheilaz
Thanks for those links you two. I've just logged on after 6 hours in the kitchen. But, I'm cooking the same tried & tested recipes and really need some new ideas. Will def. take a look, thanks!
Guest
Since 6am Sheila! What on earth are you cooking today? Much as I enjoy cooking, it's so depressing - all that cooking and washing up and at the end of the day, it's all gone!
Sheilaz
No, Ginette, the Omlet postings clock isn't 24 hours, so it was just past midnight . Trouble was, I'd had a slow day for once and didn't whizz about in the morning, which is when I should have done the cooking. By the time I started, I'd slowed right down, and by 9 had jelly legs & no brain, but had to finish it! Now, don't read the time of this posting. I had a couple of friends round which was a giggle but now I'm buzzing ...and I need to be up at 6 to start the next lot of cooking
Guest
I didn't look at the time Sheila - I read it wrong before anyway so there's not much point is there?!! I hope you're cooking is going well. Why are you doing so much - or do you always?
Sheilaz
Always! But this week I'd invited a couple of friends round too, so there was an extra meal & I wanted to make them some special food. Er, I made them some food! They said it smelled lovely & looked delicious. But then ate realyy slowly (picking?) and didn't say it was delicious! Oh well, we finished with a yummy pudding. Guest
I love cooking, but I don't enjoy the daily chore with all its resulting mess. It takes up so much of the day. And as I said, at the end of the day, there's nothing left to show for it. Sheila, I'm sure your friends were enjoying the meal so much that they forgot to say how nice it was! Or your conversation was so scintillating that to talk about the food would have interrupted the flow of your witty, intelligent and fascinating conversation. Sheilaz
NO, one of them asked for the salt! But, my other friend brought me a lovely gift....chicken tea towels!
Guest
Oh lovely! I had a weak moment today I saw some lovely chicken stuff in a department store I had to go to. (DD3's character skirt is 5 inches too small round the waist and she has an exam next week Just found out, so no time to order one. I'll have to make it myself. ) Having typed that, I can see that I clearly deserved to treat myself to a lovely fabric apron covered in chickens and a new pair of oven gloves covered in chickens too. I am loudly telling all the offspring that you can get tea-towels in the same design, because very kindly I'm thinking that they may need gift ideas this month!! Only trying to help, you understand! Anyway I was going to post about them, but the chicken design isn't on their website. They are made by Ulster Weavers, really good quality and a lovely design. Who made your tea-towels Sheila? Have we now got matching kitchens?
Sheilaz
.....Who made your tea-towels Sheila? Have we now got matching kitchens? [/color] I sincerely hope our kitchens aren't matching Ginette. I have my son's stocktake spread out all over the floor and ill Posy Whitestar in a box there too! The tea towels are made by Ross. Yes, I do think you deserve a reward after last minute dance skirt crisis. I say crisis because I go hot and cold at the thought of making skirts, I'd rather put up with the mass catering! Guest
I didn't know Posy was ill. Is she improving? It's sewing on the ribbons that is really bothering me. I think they're nearly 4 metres long and they have to be exactly straight all the way round. I suspect they're going to bubble up and go all wonky! And you know how fussy the RAD is! Awful that she may lose marks because of my dress-making skills. But then if she had tried the skirt on several weeks ago, when I asked her to I wouldn't be in this position! OH is laying laminate flooring downstairs which makes the whole house unusable by the time we've stacked furniture and boxes everywhere. And DD2 has a German girl coming to stay next Wednesday for 10 days, so I have to swap the bedrooms around to accommodate her. And I've been ill for the past 10 days, still not better. I'M NOT PANICKING!
