Redwing
I use dull emitter bulbs which give off heat but not light as I think its more natural for the chicks to experience day and night If you do use a lit bulb use a red one I have my three day old chicks under a 60w bulb at the moment as they are in a small brooder with solid sides, a 100w one may be a good idea though, 150w would be ok too but no higher if brooding indoors
Raina
Hi, Most people on here use the red bulbs (make sure it's not the one's you use for electric fires they don't give off hardly any heat) You can also get the bulbs that give off no light just heat. I'm sure Tasha (Redwing) will be along soon
