SillyClucker
Got talking to our local pub landlord who used to keep chickens. He said that he gave up with the chooks after the first scare about bird flu which he thought was putting off his customers Anyway he still keeps goats and despite his neighbour having lost chickens to foxes he never lost one even though he never locked them up over night and let them free range during the day. He reckons it was down to the goats, either the smell or just their presence kept the foxes away. Does anyone else have any experiences like this? Could be the answer to the fox problem - a guard goat
Martin B
Yes animals such as a large goat, llama or alpaca are used as guards to protect poultry. However Dolly from Jimmy's farm told me that a fox ate one of the lambs and a kid goat! Fully grown ones should be fine though!
