patsylabrador
Just got back from seeing Shutter Island. It's dark, oppressive and sad but utterly brilliant. If you're the type of person who likes X Files or The Fringe then I think you'd enjoy this. I want to see it again. (Thought about it overnight and think I should explain that it doesn't have aliens or strange phenomena - I didn't want to put people off for that reason. It's more the tone of the film, quite Film Noir/ Gothic thriller.)
alih
I really enjoyed it too. Didn't think I was going to but it looked wonderful and was very good fun. I love Scorsese and Di Caprio, and this was rather unusual for them both, but I want to see it again now I have see it all the way through! Hen Watch
Hmm....... I have mixed feelings about this. Dragged hubbie off to see this at the weekend. He absolutely hated it and said it was one of the worst films he's ever seen....... and the hubbie of one of his work colleagues felt the same. I thought it was good and confusing in different measures (can't explain why or you won't enjoy the film if you see it). I would rate it as a good film. For me, not brilliant enough for me to rate it as a "must see" but not bad either. I'm not a big fan of Leonardo as I think he looks so young in everything and it puts me off. But in this film, he seems to have filled out for the part and actually looks somewhere near the age he's meant to be playing, so that's a plus point.
