carrie Posted March 24, 2010 Share Posted March 24, 2010 Today my son collected an egg which was almost black and had bright red banding on it (wish I had taken a photo now) it was very odd. We cracked it and it was like a whisked egg rather than albumin and yolk, it smelt OK. It may have been from my copper black who hasn't laid since autumn and previously laid dark brown eggs. She wasn't very well on sunday, hunched up not eating much or moving around, her comb was very very pale (bright red the day before), then discovered red mite in coop so presumed she had been eaten alive and was anaemic.
