Britannia Ovens (esp Range cookers) your experience

I got my girls in November and they are allowed to FR round the whole garden most days. My garden has no greenery left and all my herbs spring growth has been guzzled.

 

I want the girls to still have a decent sized run to entertain themselves in but I also want to claim some garden back for the summer for me.

 

My Easter weekend task with help from the OH is to build a large WIR. Has anyone else built one themselves? Any handy tips?

HI,

I ordered 16 6 foot by 4 foot panels and one door and drilled them together.

Then I put some extra wood one side to make it higher and added clear plastic panels for the roof. I also added the plastic panels to half of the side to keep one end dry as the rain would blow in.

My angles are not exact and the run is not quite rectangular but it works!!

I am just building mine! I used the same wood sizes as A4U and have built panels and will screw each one together, I have cut up decking boards, easy to cut with a jigsaw and put them at the bottom of each panel to stop bedding being flicked out. I have used 5mm x 75mm screws and have attached the mesh with staples, I stapled the bottom half at every square, and the top half at every 3. Each panel has a top corner piece to support it, so a mitre saw or box is required.

 

For roofing panels I have got clear PVC roofing, I have not put this up yet, as I need to finish a couple of panels off, however if you have a look at the sticky WIR inspiration you can get lots of ideas on what other people have done there.

It has been 100% successful as a WIR, and was great fun to plan and build. I find it hard to believe it's been up for over a year now - it still looks just as good today as it does in the photo.
